Heritage Hall, Licking County aging Program
Welcome:
President Eileen McNally welcomed all to our August meeting. The theme for the month was “Working for the Future”. Both personally, and for LCRTA working to meet the needs of our members...can we do a better job? Related topics were brought up for everyone to think about and give input. Eileen shared that she has made up a short survey members can find online to address some of the concerns of our group. She urged all to take this very short survey...we would like everyone’s input!
Again this month lunch was provided by Creative Catering, who will be catering all of our meals when meeting at Heritage Hall.
Program:
Linda Leffel introduced our speaker for this month, local attorney Bethany Stickradt who focuses on Elder-care topics and estate planning, She is passionate about working with seniors in addressing various elder-care topics, and enjoys giving back to her hometown community. She included items all need to address, not just seniors, and also addressed various ways to pay for nursing home or other arrangements.
Business Meeting:

Scholarship: Eileen was pleased to introduce 2 local educators who qualified for the $200 School Supply Grant given out this year to 5 educators. Elizabeth Untied from Granville Elementary and Emma Hayford from Kirkersville shared with us how they used the grant for in their classrooms. Congratulations to all the teachers who were selected.
LCRTA Executive board recommended, and discussion was held, and motion was made by Jim Boomershine that we change current scholarship program in our by-laws: Instead of awarding it to high school students, we now want to award current classroom student teachers, at OSUN, etc. for costs of many materials needed at that time. Motion was seconded by Sandy Stoker, and our by-laws will reflect that change. We also plan to give grants to first years (1-5) teachers grants for materials in their classrooms.
Membership: Mary Ellinger shared that we only have 7 who have not paid their current memberships.
Updates/Notes shared:
Eileen addressed the topic, and discussion followed... is our group meeting the needs of its members?
*Attendance is down slightly,in general, also since we have moved to Heritage Hall.
*It is increasingly difficult to get people to fill offices and committee chairs.
*Membership, as in many groups today, is down slightly also.
*Please give your opinions, and suggest speaker/meeting/program ideas.
*Please take the short survey Eileen has placed online.
Our next general meeting will be on October 11th at Heritage Hall.
Please respond to email about the meeting to reserve your lunch, as we need a correct number for the caterer. Food Pantry in October will be Baby items.
