Cox United Methodist Church - August 13, 2014
Welcome/Introductions/Lunch:
Pres. Sandy Holcombe welcomed everyone, followed by invocation given by Louise Whitis; lunch was served by church staff.
Program:
*Deb Tingus of United Way shared a video and information about the many services offered to our local community-for 80 years!
Caring for those in need in many areas-the elderly, to children & teens, Luellen Deeds handed out a packet of information and donation forms for contributing to United Way programs.
Coming soon is a “Week of Caring”, where volunteers are focusing on giving support to organizations with projects in various areas all week.
*Program then switched gears to Gary and Cara Noyes, who presented an entertaining program from what they call as “Joyful Noyes”. Their music included show tunes to patriotic songs.
President’s Notes:
*Meeting called to order by President Sandy Holcombe with the Pledge of Allegiance.
*Sandy shared that we are still in need of a Legislative Chairman. For this position you receive info from COTA, as well as checking updates on the computer--you report this info to the membership-keeping us updated with current legislative changes. We need to have this position filled by next meeting (OCT.). Remember that our slate of other officers is set for next year: Eileen McNally-President, Janet Simross, Vice President; Debby Shelly, treasurer; Linda Leffel, Secretary. Committee chairs are also in place.
Secretary’s Report
Secretary Linda Leffel shared synopsis of June meeting minutes, members are reminded to look at our website for complete, current minutes.
Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Sharon Koppert.
Treasury Balances as of end of July:
Savings: $4,643.86 Scholarship: $11,386.93 Checking: $1,071.
ORTA Standing Committee Reports
Community Services:
David Greene shared and gave out fliers about an upcoming movie “Burn”, about dying cities in America, such as Detroit. Movie will be shown on Thursday, Oct. 28, 6-9 PM, at Glassworkers Union Hall, 350 Hudson Ave.
Eileen also shared that Dawes is in need of docents for giving tours, etc.
Membership: We are down to 4 members not paid for the year! We will start collecting 2015 dues at our October meeting.
Public Relations: Look for updates on our website and items sent out by Eileen.
LCRTA Local Committees
Luncheon Committee: Sandy Holcombe will be new luncheon coordinator-please see that she receives your reservation for lunch meetings.
Old/Unfinished Business:
Need that person to be Legislative Chairman for next year!

Other Announcements:
Bev Redman shared about “Prevention of Cruelty to Woman” program as part of “Action Ohio”.
“One Room Schoolers” will be honored at the Ohio History Center & Ohio Village on Saturday, August 16th, 10AM-4PM, with active & retired teachers & their families admitted free to all activities & facilities.
Linda Leffel shared that Licking County Historical Society will host their major fundraiser—“Golf Outing at Historic Moundbuilder’s Park” on Monday, Sept. 8th at 1PM—in need of golfers, prize donations, & hole sponsorships-call 345-4898 for more details.
VP Janet Simross announced that our next meeting will be October 8, 2014 at Utica United Methodist Church, 526 North St., Utica. Food Pantry collection will be baby products.
